Black Southland mayors group wants delay on plans for harness racing, casino combo
Several south suburban mayors want to put a hold on plans for a combination harness racing track and casino, saying such a racino and a separate Southland casino cannot both be economically viable. More than a dozen mayors, part of the Southland Regional Mayoral Black Caucus, have signed on to a resolution asking that any action on a possible racino be delayed “until a fully comprehensive feasibility study has been completed to determine the viability and practicality of developing and operating” such a venue.
