The company that wants to bring thoroughbred horse racing back to Michigan has just two days to meet the first deadline set by state regulators. Although the company has until Dec. 28 to produce some of the information, it was given only until Saturday, Dec. 1, to show proof that it has a lease, contract or agreement to use the track. Sports Creek has been closed for nearly four years. AmRace principal Nelson Clemmens said his company remains committed to the Sports Creek project, but closing a deal to purchase the property has taken longer than expected.
