The Illinois Gaming Board pushed back approval for the state’s new casino licenses by at least six months due primarily to COVID-19 delays. The decision, announced at a special gaming board meeting Thursday, set an April 28 target for issuing preliminary approval for casino applicants in Rockford and Williamson County. The process may take longer for casinos in Waukegan and the south suburbs, where multiple applicants are competing for licenses. Earlier this year, an application for the Danville casino license was withdrawn.
