Arlington Track's Future? Development, Horses? Bears?

The fate of Arlington Park horse racing track and the 336-acres it sits on is once again in a wobbly mode with the recent announcement by its owners, Churchill Downs, Inc., that it will not seek a state license to operate a casino there. In the past, track officials have said that a casino license is vital to the track’s future operation. Instead, Churchill Downs has made it clear that it will focus on expanding its recently acquired Rivers Casino in Des Plaines where the number of gaming positions will soon be increased and where betting on sporting events will be permitted.
